"Isolation Drills & Old-Timey Combos"
During this workshop, we'll develop dynamic isolation drills and learn effective methods for increasing speed while maintaining precision. We'll then play with vintage inspired combinations incorporating these isolations with soft, fluid movements while also exploring musicality and stylized nuances.

Jennifer Knott Biswas Poi Workshop:
INTRO TO POI
If you’ve been thinking about learning to spin poi, now is your chance! We will start from the very beginning, to cover the basic patterns and movements of poi, including: hand positioning, planes, same-time and split-time movements, butterfly, extensions and body posture. This class is aimed squarely at beginners, but I will add variations and more complicated moves appropriate for intermediate spinners. You will leave class with the basic building blocks required to pursue more complicated moves.
You will need a set of practice poi for this class. I will have bean-bag poi for sale for $20. Alternately, you could put a pair of tennis balls into a pair of very long socks, or purchase a practice set at www.homeofpoi.com(please use referral code Jennifer111).
NOTE: This is not a fire class, but a poi movement class.
Jennifer Knott Biswas is the director of the fire arts collective Entropy Arts Firedance and shin of the Burning Man conclave L.A. Fire Brigade. She has performed with The Phoenix Projekt Fire Troupe and Machina Candeo Fire Company and is a current member of bellydance (and fire) troupe, The Nautch Conspiracy. She has been spinning poi and working with fire for 9 years, and bellydancing for over 10 years. She is currently focusing on the fusion of dance and body movement with technical spinning, as well as large-scale fire choreography.
